Why are the inner numbers reversed? Perhaps someone knows
It pays homage to a WW2 Lange & Söhne B-Uhr watch developed for the Waffen-SS soldiers
The inverted numbers were designed for navigators, allowing the watch to be used in conjunction with a mirror sextant. The mirrored dial is a modification, which was standard issue for German air force navigators during World War II, and enables the pilot to read the time in a reflected view through the sextant's sighting device without needing to flip the watch.
A. Lange & Söhne produced 22 of these pieces, and they were highly valued even back then. Who used the watch had to return it to his/her superior after the completion of duty. The striking mirror writing indication of the sextant watch was necessary so that the watch could be used together with the visor device of a mirror sextant.
