I've just come across this new watch from Vario and I rather like it. It draws inspiration from the 1970s particularly with the top case finishing and faceted crystal:

For a change I think I like the grey dial best, and I do really like the case shape and grooved top. The 12 o'clock crown is always going to be fiddly to operate, but it looks very cool 😎

At $648 it isn't cheap, though that sapphire and custom case won't be cheap to make and it does ontain a Miyota 9039 👍The launch date is 8th November. I have to say, that despite buying far too many watches this year and this being at the larger end of what I can wear, I am tempted!

That’s a very nice watch Duncan , I can imagine these will sell out quickly in some colours , the Vario field watch I posted a few weeks back the black dial in 40mm sold out instantly , you can still buy the others and I think they make very good watches and as Vario started out making watch straps usually they have great reviews on the strap also so it’s definitely worth the money

they have chosen to use a really good and quite thin (compare to the NH35 ) movement also which is great , I hate when brands throw out £500 watches with a TMI NH35 it’s ridiculous

the crown gives it a bit of character also , very nice shape case , not a fan of fluted case though so I wouldn’t personally buy one because of that but it’s a nice watch for anybody who thinks that’s a good thing to have a fluted case and of course as it’s taking inspiration from vintage style watch I think the fluted case works

also the hands are nice and decent proportions so that’s a bonus and it’s clean with no cyclops and date
