Probably a silly question but where do you measure the 30mm and what's best to use to measure !!!, ruler or guage !!!.
Also, how can you tell if a movement from one particular watch is being used in another brand of watches and can be used as a donor !!!.
Thank you. Alan šŸ˜‰

I would agree with Duncan on the above, also, personally I would prefer to use a digital caliper( and as Duncan states, measure from 9 to 3 on the watch- not including the crown). There are paper wrist sizers out there that you may see people using in listings, though I feel these are not as accurate. I will add on the movement question, you can pick up cheap case back openers, sticky balls for screw back etc.. to open the watch and assess or alternatively just research the watch on line for movement specs if you wish. Are you looking for a particular donor movement?
Good luck

Hi Matty, thank you for the input. I've got quite a few half decent tools incl a ball and case back openers, I'm a complete novice who loves watches and has accrued a small collection which I like to wear to suit whatever the occasion. I mainly buy from carboot fairs and decided I'd like to try my hand at changing batteries and cleaning to start with, then maybe dismantling and cleaning when I feel confident enough to save on sending out for repair.
I'm busy working on a Rotary Quartz Moonphase 956-119 which has a bust coil, I've got access to a board but was bidding on a Full watch on eBay for same price but lost it for 22p šŸ˜–. Anyways, I'm more curious to learn as to whether there are other Brands out there with the same movements that would be suffice as a Donor !!. šŸ˜‰

No problem, any rotarys Ive had previously ive found to be either Ronda movements, some Hattori, some older models even have eta movements so it's a bit of a mixed bag. I agree, it's handy enough to pick up a donor movement, I've been working on a rotary avenger recently and picked up a donor just incase anything went sideways.
if it's a coil your after you could maybe look to source on cousins uk. They have plenty of stock on there.
Good luck with the refurb.
Matt.

Thank you Matt, it's an ETA. I'm going to watch a bit YT and try and gain a bit knowledge before I tackle this one . Have a pleasant evening. Alan šŸ˜‰
