If there's one watch to make someone a confirmed mechanical watch enthusiast, it's this X-33 quartz Speedmaster. It's not that it isn't an amazing watch with brilliant functionality (and, to be honest, one of my favourites). It's just that it's an absolute psychopathic monster when it comes to battery changes.

If it doesn't like a battery, no matter how new and shiny, it will sulk. If you haven't purchased a brand-new battery just off the production line, that very morning, it will sulk. Yesterday's battery is treated with absolute contempt. It's almost worth the king's ransom that Omega charge to get them to do it. Try it yourself, and you may need treatment afterwards, as many posts on the Internet will attest.

Suffice to say, I changed mine yesterday, and today I shall be having a lie down, while my X-33 decides whether the third new battery I provided yesterday, is to its liking. Nine titanium case screws, the size of bacteria, in and out three times has rendered my eyesight redundant and my patience, well, the least said the better. ... So, here for your entertainment is my X33 that I am wearing this morning. A simple photograph of a watch, that belies its true nature! ... Only three years and I shall have to do it again... ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Sunday Casio Oceanus S100. Titanium, world time, sapphire, tough solar 6 band auto setting, module aligns second hand so it hits the marker. Zatatsu polishing from the monks of Grand Seiko. How Casio sell such a watch for the $300 or so they sell them for is beyond me but the module makes the Swiss quartz's I own a flint tool versus a Swiss Army Knife.
