I have a old 7009 movement which I have just set the hands up to change the day at midnight , it if I manually wind the watch forward 24 hours the day change seems to advance 20 minutes or so for every 24 hours .to a point where after 3 days the day is now changing at 1am
The rapid day change function all seem ok and the dial spacer keeps the dial off the day and date wheel so they appears to be no drag
Any suggestions

You're going to have to remove the hands, dial and day disc and inspect the teeth in the wheels marked in the following pic.

From your description, I would suggest that possibly there has been some damage due to the quick set being used whilst the movement was in the process of a date change.
These wheels could be plastic or metal in these movements, both easily damaged when the above occurs.
If this has happened, there's plenty of spares available.
