I need to reduce a Breitling ss bracelet but two of the screws are just turning the pins, the opposite end is flat (no slot) so how on earth do I stop them spinning? I've tried giving them a tap to see if they seat into the link but no joy :(

You need two screw drivers.... one to stop one of the screws and the other to unscrew on the other side. They might be locked tight with stuff like loctite... I had one that was hell on Earth to size. I ended up using double sided tape to hold the bracelet and use both my hands. Even so, I had to use a couple of other tricks. Here's the link: http://www.thewatchf...showtopic=68451

Hope that helps!!

Why oh why don't I read a post all the way to the end?... Sorry... I'll try to find out how to size those to make it up to you...

Have you tried pulling on the ends of the bracelet slightly while turning the heads? This may cause enough tension on the non slotted ends to hold them in place while turning the slotted ends out.

Cheers!

Well it's a mystery, the section of link is held in fast but just spins. Thankfully I need to reduce the bracelet down by a fair degree so in the end I've just removed the section completely and rebuilt using a couple of sections from the other side ( none of this would have been a problem if I'd been happy with an uneven bracelet :). I'll try and upload a photo or two.

Ta, it was an incoming last week from the sales forum here. Only problem is that the wife has snaffled this one too! That's the Omega triple date AND this colt stolen from right under my nose! SWMBO doesn't like straps so that's a no go. Flippin Omega came on a strap and thus I've just had to shell out £250 for a genuine speedmaster strap for it too!

Whatever you do don't cut slots!!

The screws screw into a hollow tube which is fixed into the opposite link (with the flat ends)

Sometimes the screws don't fall out when unscrewed and you have to separate the links i.e. pull the link with the flat end away from the centre link whilst holding the link with the screws between thumb and forefinger

I have had many happy hours with tricky B'ling bracelets :D by the way this version of the B'ling bracelet is a bit odd to adjust because of the angled links you really have to imagine the position of the tubes holding the links together because they don't go through the links parallel to the angle they go through the bracelet at 90 degrees to the edge of the bracelet ... good luck :D
