Ok, I may have gone a bit far with my bin raking this time 😂

By my count it's around 190 watches many of them incomplete or total junk.

But I think there's a few that will be worth trying to resurrect, which I'll update this thread with as I work through them👍

Let me know if you see anything you like ?

This is interesting. Looks a bit Omega-esque.
That was one of the first ones I picked up, the dial really catches the light

Hercules Prima super 21
Which gives the impression that it's got 21 jewels, but it's actually a very cheap 1 jewel movement.

Unfortunately the case back and balance are both missing 👎

Hopefully there is something else in the lot that I can use for a donor, because the dial is actually quite pretty for what it is

I love taking a chance on joblots, and I've done it a few times, although not in such large numbers as that one 😂

I normally go for all quartz if possible, as the vast majority fire up and work fine just with a simple battery change. I also look for larger sizes, although these days I am happy to wear slightly smaller as well. I try to avoid scratched crystals, because I've never bothered learning to replace them. I tend to look for at least one out of the joblot that I might like to keep, the last one I bought had 9 watches, and 6 turned out to be keepers! I've got plenty of spare straps/bracelets in various sizes, so not a problem if they are needed.

Good luck sorting through them mate, I look forward to seeing your progress with these.

I am pretty certain I have one of these kicking about somewhere, it worked pretty well last time I wound it .

@ardenhouse165 missing the glass as I remembered, nickel/chrome case is really flakey so probably beyond trying to save.

@Lou61 the other jump hour is an Agony, missing the crown and stem at present, it does sound like the balance ticks when shaken so I'll add it to the possible repair pile 👍

@jaoliver unfortunately not a Timex,
Marco Polo de luxe, movement isn't bad, as far as a pin pallet goes anyway 🤷
Maybe if one of the knackered watches has a usable case I might re-home the movement

Nice job lot, loads to get your teeth into.

No idea why but my eye is drawn to this one - maybe the cream dial and gold hands and small second bit looks interesting plus I do like the full set of indices. It could be that it reminds me of my Godfathers Rolex from 1946. the one to the right also look a bit like a JLC 855 memovox if you squint a bit.

It's an Ingersoll, nice dial just a pitty the case is so worn.

Sadly no JLC (how much are you squinting?)🤣
it's an Allenby Rocketmaster
Certainly an ambitious name 🚀

Closest to a memovox in the lot is a sekonda alarm watch.

This was a big Christmas for me. 1981, I was 6 years old. I got an Intercity 125 Train set with working lights! My first own record. Single by Human League "dont you want me" and a proper big boy watch like this with the red and blue after 12 and before 12 minutes. Felt about 6ft tall even though I was about 3ft. It started the watch fascination. The next target was a Casio F91w type watch that was in the local jeweler window in a tank full of water because it was actually 100% water proof. Which meant you could run it under the tap in the bathroom and watch the seconds tick instead of brushing your teeth!

Phew! and Phew again! What a collection, dear @animalone, and what a thread. There are a number of watches that I like and other Forum members have already pointed these out. It will be fantastic to get the best ones resurrected and restored to GWO - a brave but possibly quite lucrative mission in the end.(y)

PS Sorry if I gave up giving reactions to posts on this thread, but it was all nearly too much for my brain to cope with. How many watches did you say were in this collection, animalone?...o_O:giggle:

Blimey, even by my standards that's a whopper of a joblot!

The most I've ever bought in one lot was around 90, all quartz (obviously...) mostly in a surf dude style, made by GUL. The seller was closing down his business, and sold all his remaining stock on eBay. I was amazed when I won the bidding, and I sold them all at a profit of around £400 in the end. I kept one, because it was in the package on it's own, no box, and totally different to any of the others, and I thought it was too good to sell on. In fact, I've still got it, although it's rarely worn, but would never sell this one.
