I would get an omega speedmaster , a Milus snow star for casual wearing , a longines hydro conquest, nomos for smart occasions , Rolex explorer 1 and 2 polar one , I’m picking up the Raymond Weil complete calendar , a few seikos like the Willard , so not much different from my collection now 😆

I don’t think I would be as extravagant as most people as I don’t really like any watch that’s worth over £20k , I just think they start turning into more hype pieces than pieces of horology that I’m interested in , I think most watches are too blingy once you go past a certain point except German watches they look understated

ohh yeah I would have to get a grand seiko spring drive also , probably my ultimate grail piece

 

On a more serious note, I would love something like a pink/rose gold Langematik.

Having an unlimited amount of money would take the fun out of buying watches though.

I tried on a Nautilus the Watchclub were selling for £25k thinking I would part ex 2 Rolex to buy it..............very disappointing. Looked dull and boring and certainly not worth £25k.....then the prices went stratospheric.......so what do I know 🙄

 

This is tricky, there are many very expensive watches, but there are many features that make watches expensive that I don't want and put me off a watch.

Complications make watches thicker, heavier and less reliable. Some like perpetual calendars are actually really annoying on a watch that stops a few days after you take it off. Too many complications also make the dial fussy.

Precious metals are not only expensive, some aren't very good for watch cases. Gold is too soft, scratches easily and wears away over time. Platinum is heavier than stainless without looking better (in my opinion) than stainless.

I've decided I don't like integrated bracelets so no Royal Oak, VC 222 or Nautilus for me.

I have to say I am extremely happy with my GS sbgx263 slim, comfortable, elegant, understated, very little text on the beautiful dial and incredibly well finished. It is also as accurate as any watch needs to be and has in my opinion the best hands fitted to any watch at any price.

Cost no object, I would buy a hand winding GS spring drive or a JLC Reverso duo face.

 

Ressence Type 3. It's so weird and wonderful, and really doesn't conform to many of the standards in watch making.

 

My “grail” I.e. unobtainable in my lifetime (lottery win excluding) is the Parmigiani Tonda Rattrapante GMT. But I could also be tempted by a Moser Stremliner Small Seconds Blue Enamel, Schwarz Etienne 1902 or a Gronfeld 1941. I’m not that fussy really!

I need reading glasses, so no need for date or day complications. I've never understood the need for a moonphase. I passed my PADI diving exams 35 years ago but don't need a diver any more. I've a stopwatch on the activity tracker I wear when teaching Taekwondo.

So I might see if @Duncan U. would sell me his Grand Seiko. Or maybe I'd get a Longines Conquest. That's all I'd need

 

Another to add to my long short list - Laurent Ferrier Galet Limited edition. 18 made, platinum, micro rotor movement, grand feu enamel dial, ticks all of the boxes (except price).

 

That has got to be one of the nicest watches I have seen. Love the simplicity of it, and positively oozes quality. Gorgeous.

 

I don't buy expensive watches I could afford now, so I don't think more money would make any difference.

If money truly is no object, then the first thing i do is build the new room I'd need for all of the watches I'm about to aquire!

 

I would build a watch of my own liking but make a brand new movement that never needs servicing , also it would be thin , light , expensive , 0 cyclops , atleast 6 holes of micro adjust and finishing better than grand seiko , I would make a few more for forum members , and then I would get hold of all of the content creators on YouTube and pay them for a sponsor to say it’s the best watch in the world and nobody except us elite watch enthusiasts will have one , I promise !!!
