That looks like a wrong 'un to me.

An 'M' serial Rolex (2008) should have solid gold bracelet pieces I think, not plated. The text looks a bit iffy and there shouldn't be anything whatsoever on the caseback, a real one is totally plain.
Plus the cyclops lens looks a bit pi55ed as well.

Get it open sharpish and double check it's a Rolex movement. I hope I'm totally wrong (I usually am!) but I was selling these back in 2008 and this looks like a good effort at a snide.

The stamps on the back are on the lugs not the centre section

I took it to my local shop to a guy I know and he had no doubt of it being genuine :/

The back of the lugs should be plain. The only markings should be the ones between the lugs like you've shown.

Google M832118 and prepare yourself for disappointment as you will get a few dozen hits for various fake Rolex watches, it's apparently a commonly used number - must be a factory somewhere using that stamp on all their knock-offs.

Oh, and get yourself a new watch guy. If a professional jeweller didn't catch that one then... well. :whistling:

No need. Google that serial number, it's apparently a running joke with Rolex collectors that this same *unique* serial number keeps cropping up on fakes.

I am really very sorry to the OP, it's a horrible experience getting stitched up so I hope you bought it from a reputable source (i.e. money back!)

I don't think Kev deals with Rolex, just Omegas. A great guy to deal with too.

Why not take it to cash converters, they know a bargain when they see it. Does the box smell of roses? or cheap glue?

 

I found a little guide to fakes online. I poured water on the crystal to see if it pooled, apparently this is a sign of sapphire?

 

The diamonds are real. They are 8 cuts. My Partner is a Gold Smith by trade, unfortunately not a Horologist!

 

All well and good her being a goldsmith, but unless she has magic hands which reach through the glass then you are just guessing Phil - They use EXACTLY the same faceting for cubic zirconia, diamonds, white sapphires, moissanite....every gemstone, basically.

It'll be a 58 facet cut (standard brilliant round) in a Rolex diamond-dot dial. It is 100% impossible to tell from sight what stone is used, regardless how good a goldsmith she is.

Sadly they are too small to be of any value even if they turn out to be real diamonds, I could supply you eight of those from my scrap box for £40.

I spoke to the chap on the phone. He seems OK. Sound like money isn't a great issue for him. He's in contact with me this evening about another watch taht I am selling! We have each other's addresses etc. I am not afraid about awkwardness haha.

I bet you can also see the hologram at 6 o'clock suspended in the glass. Remember the dealer will destroy a fake if you take it in, don't leave it for the other shop employee to view when he comes back from lunch. Hammer crunch whoops!!!!!!.

The crystal/glass should have the Rolex crown etched on it at the six o'clock position, it's pretty much invisible to the naked eye but if you have a loop or magnifying glass in the right light you can see it

 

Some fakes use batteries. Some cheap movements, some clone movements, tricky to see what you are looking at some times.

 

May mean its a fake but when I had the strap off I could just about feel the auto movement when I move the watch in my hand

No offence intended to anyone but that is bent as a hook, you can just tell by the looking at the pics, various factors. It is a fake.
