Ever fancied a massive, heavy, feature-laden, ana-digi watch?

Do you have a need for a wrist-mounted barometer, altimeter, compass, dive computer, chronograph, countdown, world time, pedometer and alarm clock with lume and a backlight?

You need the Gavia 2! Yes, for a whopping £68, this watch literally does it all. All of that stuff! All of it.

Do you have 5" wrists and little handies? This ain't for you. Are you a scaffolder, body builder and part time explorer? Then yes, this is made for you.

Just in. I've been setting it up and playing with it. My favourite feature is the barometer with histograph. I will always know if it's likely to chuck down without opening my iPhone.

The bracelet is very good for this money. Solid and nice looking, but as it's already heavy enough, I decided to try it on silicone straps. 24mm lugs, so I only had two - a Kai Tian Universal in Sinn orange, and an unknown super-soft black from a mysterious source. Much nicer. So much so I've ordered a 24mm Universal in grey. Fits very nicely.

Dimensions, it ain't a shrinking violet!

47mm (51mm with pushers)
18mm thick
53mm top to bottom
24mm lugs

I love it! This is a proper lump of metal that does pretty much everything one could ever ask from a watch. Really solid build too. The hands are independently driven so can be lined up to 12. All units are separately adjustable between metric and imperial (not grouped together), and it's very quick to read.

Have a gawps...

On bracelet:

That is one big mofo! - I tried a 46mm Oris once & it was too big for me, so despite all the Gavia's qualities, not one for me - Health to wear ... PB (y)

It is a bit. :D

I also forgot to mention that it can be put to sleep. The hands reset to 6 o'clock and the display switches off. Good for saving the battery.

I just wondered, dear @Filterlab, if you have had a look at the North Edge Triton 300 M dive watch. This seems a real bargain to me although It may be a trifle heavy and large for me. It is so cheap on Aliexpress when one considers its specs (apart from the crystal which is hardened mineral gllass) that I can't easily believe the claims made for it.

I haven't seen that one. I noticed the Gavia a couple of years ago, and it was the barometer that drew my attention to it. I haven't explored the range at all. I'll have a look now.

What I will say is that I was genuinely not expecting this watch to be so brilliantly made. And the menu system is so easy, it puts Casio to shame.

Top left: Light / Return/Exit
Bottom left: Mode / settings (hold) / Ok

Top right: + / Up / Start / Stop
Bottom right: - / Down / Reset

So simple, it navigates like a Smart TV; everything where the mind expects it to be.

I have one. It is quite chunky however that's what I like. It is really comfy on the rubber strap and in about two months has gained 6 seconds, somewhat better than some Citizen Eco drives.
I also have a North Edge Snow Leopard on a bracelet ( a bit Bostock-ish) which looks similar to the Gavia but only 5m WR. Both at great prices. Did I say I like them chunky? Now I will be looking at the Gavia.

That is good time keeping! I'm very impressed with North Edge.

I've got the North Edge Snow Leopard, and it's a great watch IMHO. It has all the same functions as the Gavia 2, so barometer, altimeter, compass, dive computer, chronograph, countdown, world time, pedometer and alarm - And I'm ashamed to say, I haven't tried any of them, ha ha! I've even set it up so the digital part displays the same time as the analogue... 😂

Here's the size comparison next to the mighty Bulova Precisionist, which is also a beast:

And another, next to a G-Shock:

Possibly one of the best bargains in my collection (y)
