  1. Hi all, First post so apologies if it's a boring question! I recently inherited a very smart Omega Geneve and wondered about its history. It was given to my grandfather by one of the bosses of Harrods in honour of his 35 years service working in security there. It was on a very worn and tired black leather strap which I've had swapped out for a nice new brown one (managed to get the original links moved across which was a nice touch). A few Google searches suggest there were a couple of models of the Geneve, mine likely being a later one. I just wondered if any of you kind people recognised it and knew a rough year, movement, and any other interesting facts or recommendations. I have tried to attach a photograph, but likely c*cked it up. In other news I tried on an Omega Seamaster 300 (previous model), and a PO today.....anyone want to buy a kidney?! Many thanks Dan (newbie watch enthusiast)
  2. Hello Forum; Tim here - new member, so please forgive me if I haven't approached this query the correct way!! I have been bequeathed an "OMEGA Seamaster Cosmic 2000" wrist watch, and I am looking for any documentation / instruction manuals that may be available for this particular timepiece. It is a very early 1970's model, purchased in Switzerland. (We think 1972 or thereabouts) If anyone has this information available and is willing to share it with me (or point me to where I would find it) it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks; Tim. (Victoria, Australia.

In EXQUISITE macro shot detail. Simply lovely. Featured Watches: Heuer Carrera 1153 Heuer Bundeswehr 1550 SG Heuer Monaco 1133G

  18. Good evening, I've found an old watch which belonged to my grandpa. I was wondering if any of you have any clue about what is it. It's an Ulysse Nardin, I've taken it to a local store and they told me it must have been made around the 30's/40's. It has a 5,4 cm wide face in ceramic. I've written to the identification service of Ulysse Nardin and all they manage to tell me is that the caliber is a 19"" C. C. R. based on the design of Paul David Nardin patented CH54714A sold from 1915 to 1971. I'll put some photos of it hoping they could help and that some of you can tell me something more about what could it be. Thank you all for your time. Greetings, Marco https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Yo1kx06o7IxbnoubbEx5QhgegavVlKCs
  19. Hello everyone! So I’m a newbie here and this is my first post so please bare with me and be gentle I’m semi new into collecting vintage watches and normally I only collect/wear men’s watches. However, I’ve been given a late 40s/50s Smiths Empire ladies watch as a present the other week and I’ve noticed that there isn’t a second hand and I find it so bizarre! Is this normal or the second hand is actually missing? I’ve looked into pictures online and stuff and it does seem like the girls watches don’t have them...is that correct? (Personally I like looking at the second hand sometimes coz I find the ticking and sweeping rather therapeutic at times lol) But yeh, sorry for rambling on and guys, help me out and educate me please! Thank you xoxo
  20. Good afternoon all, It's my first post but I'm an avid reader of the forum and find the information and knowledge of the various contributors fantastic. I love vintage Omegas and have managed to assemble a small collection but am always looking to add to it. I have come across this Constellation but haven't seen a dial like it before so am wondering what your thoughts are on its legitimacy? Any information would be much appreciated. Regards

    JLC 497

Looking into buying a JLC 497 movement watch (40'S army issue) never worked on one this old or an automatic watch for that matter but cannot seem to find much info on how exactly how these movements work. More specifically what the part with what looks to be some sort of adjustment with "P.S.A.R." around it.
  23. To the Admin; not sure if this would be better in the Watchmaking and Repairs section. If so, feel free to move it. My Dad dug out this old Summit Automatic which belonged to my Grandfather. I know it's not worth anything in financial terms, but I'd like to get it restored as much as possible, for sentimental reasons. The movement (AS 1700) is fine as far as I can tell, but obviously needs a service. The whole watch was filthy, but has cleaned up well. Now to the problems. One of the spring bars was Superglued in place, as the lug is so badly damaged. Looking at it, could it be that someone has attempted a repair (with solder?) in the past? All four are damaged or worn to some extent, but this is the worst (from front and back): I would appeciate the advice of any of you regarding repair. Can it be done? If so, how? Is it a DIY job, or best left to the experts? Also, I've no idea where to get replacement seals or gaskets for the case back and the crown. These aren't the usual o-rings. The one on the back is a flat plastic gasket 30 mm i.d. 31mm o.d. and 0.25mm thick. The one on the crown (the dark orange part) is 2mm i.d. 3mm o.d. and approx. 0.7mm thick, hard plastic or resin. Are these standard parts, and still available somewhere, or can they be substituted by modern seals e.g. o-rings? Any tips, recommendations or encouragement very much appreciated!
  24. Hello all, I am new to the forum so my deepest apologies if this is in the wrong place. I've recently purchased an Omega Constellation. I've been a long time lover of this watch and finally took the plunge. I'm going to take it for a little service in the coming days, but wondered if any of you wonderful horologist types could tell me about it? I know there are so many variation's on the constellations Thanks! J
