I've been struggling for a while to find my ideal "long term" watch.

It had to be reliable, accurate and robust. I wanted an auto with a sound movement, built by a reputable maker. wink2.gif I also needed a nice bright lume on the dial and hands.

So I tried some different options, none of which really seemed to fit the bill. After a long email conversation with our esteemed host, Roy offered to create a special version of the excellent RLT69 for me, which arrived yesterday. It looks better than I imagined:

What we have here is an auto version of the RLT69, using the ETA 2824-2, fitted with O&W wide hands and my favoured red sweep hand. Here's a close-up of the dial and hands.

The case is the same brushed stainless steel (but with a screw-down crown) that PG describes (and photographs) better than I can here.

I'm not a great fan of view backs, so the stainless screw on back is a hit with me:

Needless to say I am a very happy bunny now. I really like the look of this watch and it seems to do all the things I need it to. And I ordered my RLT 11 yesterday - is life now complete ? biggrin.gif

I am also extremely grateful to Roy for his patience, and for taking the time to create something new. It's rare to find service like this these days.

And who knows, if you ask nicely, he might make one for you too?

Technically it is not a '69 but a '68 1/2. laugh.gif

I really like the `69 with those hands weird thing is I`ve got a O & W MP2801 with the same hands great watch but I`ve been getting this feeling that the hands don`t suit it and I liked the original `69 but couldn`t quite get on with the hands ( as Roy knows sorry sad.gif ). Strange how this combination works so well cool.gif . Don`t tell anyone but I`m even begining to like the red second hand) eek.gif

Just a quick update on timekeeping.

Well, as we've all come to expect from one of Roy's creations, this watch is doing very well. Over a three day period when it's only been off my wrist for about 20 mins, it's currently running at -3s per day. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Need I say more?

sad.gif ...."jealousy"....."green with envy" ....."want one"......."and git"......

Rearrange these words plus adding a few more of your choice to get a clue of my feelings about this watch...

Rod

It's a belter - I'm sure nice Mr Roy will make you one.

Now I have this and my RLT 11 I'm like the proverbial dog with two d*cks (no not ducks).
