Calling All English Men

Im hoping those of you who live in England can be of assistance to me.
I was wondering if you have any knowledge of a company called: UK GOLD???
(Supposedly it is a cash for gold type business that buys scrap gold and jewelry for cash)
Have any of you out there heard of this company???
The reason I ask this is because I am having an issue with an ebay member to whom I sold some scrap gold recently.
I had it tested by a renowned jeweler here in Ireland as authentic 9k gold.
Now the fella I sold it to in England is telling me that it's fake and want's a refund.
I have no problem what so ever issuing a refund.
But here's the funny part.
Supposedly he sent it to this UK GOLD company and they said it was copper.
And wants me to ring this so called UK GOLD company to get it back, and in the meantime he want's me to pay him.
I just sent him a message there a minuite ago saying:
I am going to keep this as simple and as straight forward as possible.
You return the item to me with registered mail signed for with tracking number and upon arrival I
shall issue you a full refund through paypal including postage fee's no problem at all.
You must understand that it is not up to me to ring some company in England that you sent the goods to and for me to try get back.
(I mean this sounds fair to me, you return the item, I issue you a refund, simple),
Either this fella's a complete swindler or just an absolute idiot!!!
Like what else can I do, he could be a pure con artist chancing his arm.
I tried looking up this company on the net but to no avail!!!
For all I know this company name he gave me could be made up and the phone number he supplied
me with could in fact be himself or someone sat beside him/working with him.
It is for this reason that I ask if any of you living in England have ever heard of this UK GOLD company???
Thanks a mil
Robert

This is he problem with ebay. They always seem to side with the buyer and leaving the seller out of pocket.

Il leave it for a day and see what happends.
(to see if he answers that is)
If not I think ringing them will be the only solution to see were they are based, business num etc. . .
I appreciate your help.
I have proof of postage and if push comes to shove I can prove it was sent and that he had to sign for it.
If he wants a refund he shall have to provide me with proof of returning the item.
Heres a copy of the message you can judge it for yourself:
Hello it's Liam again.
I'm writing to say that, although i'm sure that You had no intention whatsoever of deceiving me, the scrap "gold" that i purchased from You is, in fact copper! I sent it to UK gold [scrap gold dealers] at MY expense & they have informed me that they are not going to offer me any money for it because it is of no value to them.
As i've said, i'm SURE THAT YOU HAD NO INTENTION TO DECEIVE but i am "out of pocket" by £107.47 [inc postage to UKgold. I would be happy if You would give me a refund of just £102 & i will then give You the 100% positive feedback that You would deserve.
If You want/need confirmation of what i am saying or You want UKgold to return You 8.33g of copper returning to You i suggest that You phone UKgold & discuss the matter with them. I say again that i'm SURE that You did NOT INTEND TO DECEIVE ANYONE & i hope that this matter can be resolved QUICKLY & WITHOUT ANY BAD FEELINGS from either side.
Yours regrettably, Liam, bye.
P.S. UK golds' phone No. is [01902 62 32 54] Walter Mathews is dealing with the matter.. I hope to here from You shortly, bye.
And this is what I replied:
Hello,
Well I am going to keep this as simple and as straight forward as possible.
You return the item to me and I will give you a refund through paypal.
(I will also pay for return postage fee's).
You have to understand that it's not up to me to ring some crowd in England that you sent the item to.
You return the item to me via registered mail signed for with tracking number and I refund your money.
It's that simple.
Regards

Its possible that he's genuine just as it is possible that he's trying to chance his arm.
The reason I think he's playing me is that I sold the other half of this very same gold to another buyer and he was satisifed.
Not to mention the chap who bought the other half makes his own jewelry so knows his stuff, if it were fake he would of been back onto me like a hot snot.
Well all I can do is wait, tommorow I will ring this company number and see what the story is.
Thank you very much to everyone who replied to this topic.
Your opnions and research into this matter is very much appreciated

You sold him the gold. He sent it off, who knows what happened inbetween.
Wait until you have it in your hand before you refund

Yeah if you get it sent back, I'd get it tested before you give the refund. The ole' switcho chango comes to mind...
From his wording of his reply sounds like a scammer to me. Too much effort in trying to shame you into a refund for good feedback.
