Since the last update, most of my gallery pictures seem to be rendering at a huge size...filling the whole screen and looking a bit ridiculous. This happens if I use the normal 'Insert other media' button at the bottom, followed by 'Insert existing attachment' and clicking on the image I want to post. Some of my pics also render sidways on for some reason. I have found that if I just visit my gallery album, right click on a pic and then use the 'Copy Image' option, I can then paste it directly into the post where it appears normal size. I seem to remember the gallery did this after the last update, but Roy managed to fix it by altering a setting at his end. Anyway...here's what I mean.

Pic added using 'Insert other media'....the picture renders huge...

20170730_140544.jpg.2276b71a0b7e949c67ae66f4da118893.jpg

The same pic posted using 'Copy Image'...it renders at normal size.

Seiko Spork

And an example of a pic rendering sideways on using 'Insert other media'...

...and via 'Copy Image'

Both spork pictures are the same size for me on mobile.

I believe this only affects pics viewed on the PC and tablet, Hugh, as they look the same size on my android phone too.

My Samsung tablet is showing the spork and the bush pics at different sizes, but my Samsung phone isn't.

I just selected view page in desktop mode and the top one is indeed ever so slightly larger than the other.

Well I didn't realise that i could upload straight from my Google Photo albums as above ^^^  From desktop copied and pasted.  :hmmm9uh:

Has this always been an option? Is it new? Am I late to the party?

I don't think it's  uploading it, the link to the pic on your Google photos is being pasted in and then rendered as WYSIWYG by the editor.

Slightly less fugly.

Better to use the Google Photos "sharing" options and copy the link they provide. The examples above are prone for failure, or improper sizing. "Copy and paste" works on your computer programs, on your hard drive, but rarely works quite as intended on the Interwebs with a web browser.

Of that ^^^ I understood 'sharing options' and fugly (my granddaughter called it me) the rest is a blur of information that my brain isn't designed to handle especially on a Sunday afternoon. :whistling:

Will try though thanks.

I think I've fixed this now, all the images should be re-building in the background and hopefully show the correct size soon.

Thanks Roy

Just for info, this is, I think, the same "problem" as reported here:

The bit of info in the above thread that isn't mentioned here (unless I missed it) is that images hosted on the forum's own gallery software and some external domains are rendered full-screen, whilst other external domain images are properly scaled down to a more reasonable size.

Is this still as issue being repaired? I'm now seeing some huge pics. I use a 14" screen laptop and to see many photos in full, I have to scroll down as they don't fit on the screen. Notably Roger's pic of him standing in the tree he cut down, but also on the WRUW threads. Thanks

I think I see your point, both my modem and my router required a reboot this morning, I was down to 1mbps access, and Roger’s pic of his Sea Urchin was taking quite a long time to download. Looks like a forum gallery image.

The image does appear huge (direct link)

http://s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/forumgallery/monthly_2017_03/20170311_114748.jpg.d4841bdf892b0f09a558965e8c0de49b.jpg

SPosting it as direct image link, the editor seemed to scale it down. Same in the displayed post.
