Victory newly arrived

21 posts in this topic

Hi everyone,

Received this 1970s Pobeda last week, got from e-bay.

Manual wind, but gained ridiculously. Took the compass to it, and yes, it sent the needle twirling around.

So demagnetised it, and now keeping OKish time-seems fine on any of its sides, but gains a little dial up. Not sure what that means.

Anyway, as you can see, it has been well worn in the past and I would like to make use of it as well as its current keeper.

Please, does anyone have any suggestions regarding colour/ type of strap?

Lovely looking watch, good to see the angled case geometry with such a curvaceous font

I'd go for a strap similar to Wrench's first suggestion, but perhaps in a light tan/honey colour to match the cream of the dial?

Very nice I would go with brown or black leather.

(Quote) keeping OKish time-seems fine on any of its sides, but gains a little dial up. Not sure what that means.

This is known as positional variation.

Basicaly depending on the position of the Watch the balance swing or arc can lessen or increase.

Yep, has to be black leather. You can get a nice Hersch strap on ebay for about a tenner

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'll get on it and update once it's suited and booted.

Cheers.

Hi,

I got an old Pobeda, not off Ebay but similar. I too notice that some old manual winds will slow slightly if face down, so I guess face up would run faster if anything (??). They're not the bigest watches in the world, so found that a leather nato works well.

I was just about to ask if Wrench was related to Mach, or even Nicolas (Hayek Snr).

Ordered a brown strap/ bund on-line for the Pobeda, but will take a bit to arrive.

In the meantime, bought a lovely Tissot from @Bluestifford which came with this black strap and its original bracelet.

Like the Tissot on the bracelet so have put the Pobeda on the black leather strap to start with.

Will see if I prefer the brown leather look when it arrives.

What do you think?

New brown strap/ bund arrived today.

I think the bund is a bit large for this small watch. I may keep it for an incoming Komandirskie expected for June.

Here are some pictures. What do you think re black strap seen above or brown strap +/- bund?
