I should have posted this a couple of days ago, but work and another trip to hospital kind of got in the way. Please accept my apologies for the delay.
I've been looking at the Seagull 1963 watches for a good while. Something about the fusion of retro/vintage looks and modern materials really appeals to me and their smaller, 38mm version has been on my shopping list ever since.
Thanks to a very generous offer from Rotundus, this came through the post..
The watch is in beautiful condition and running strongly (+5sec a day, 0.3ms beat error and 315' amplitude). The dial really picks up and plays with the light; colour of the hands pops nicely. The NATO straps will get more use once the weather warms a little but that mesh is extremely comfortable for when I want to dress it up a bit. For the time being it will be on a nice, vintage look coffee coloured leather strap
One of its big attractions is the display back. Sapphire crystal, like the front on this one, and showing off the movement perfectly. It's hypnotic! Whenever I show someone the watch they agree the front is cool, nice, ok that looks good. Then I show them the back and their jaws drop and eyes pop! It's hysterical! I showed the kids in my class and I think a few brain cells might have exploded ;-) To see, and hear, its heartbeat just gives a lovely, warm feeling inside...
So, one more off the shopping list and one very happy wearer. Thanks, Rotundus and, of course, thanks to Roy for the forum.
A few more wrist shots, including a very, very chilly walk with Her Ladyship and the hound earlier...
Geese CAN walk on water...
