what is everyones opinion of swatch watches I cant really work it out I have been tempted by a couple of box sets on a make an offer and a guy selling a ltd ed watch with box and papers on make an offer
unique to keep or a waste of money I'm on the fence some will love em some will hate em as I say as a purchase I wouldn't consider anything unless it was a rare limited edition or complete box set like the Olympic set
Not my thing tbh, they are what they are. As Scotty mentioned above be aware that plastic deteriorates over time (especially in response to UV light). As ever, buy and wear what you like the look of
An uncle of mine had a couple, each lasted him 15 years or more (new batteries from time to time, obviously) and got used daily - around the house, at the office, gardening, sailing, swimming (often connected to his sailing skills) playing tennis, skiing, camping... They seemed to survive it all, so there is little to worry about as far as reliability goes. If memory serves, it was only the straps that really failed.
I like their variety, affordability and fun. Now, I've never owned one myself, but I do enjoy playing with the couple of dozen that one of my local watch stores has in display. Endless variety!
They were first launched when I was in my teens and I saved for weeks to get a tortoiseshell one (as in end-to-end tortoiseshell - strap, blank dial and case) which I loved. I wish I still had it.
I still have this one - which I also love. But when I pass them at the airport these days they all look a bit blingy.
I will buy Swatch system 51 one day just to have it in my collection as a part of the modern watch history... But for the prices of Swatch I can get something that will enjoy more
The Irony range are ok.....only got one
