Zeitner Commando charity shop find.

Recommended Posts

My lovely wife saw this in the charity shop yesterday and bought it for me as a non runner for £5. It Came with box, cushion and instructions, so worth a gamble on a new battery sorting it out. She thought I would like a yellow faced watch as I didn't have one.

It's a Zeitner commando with a Miyota os60 movement. A Sunday supplement watch I'm told, but it's pretty good quality. A new battery an a reset of the chrono functions, and it ticking away nicely.

Dear Bob, you might like to know that back on 12 March 2009, Clarkey posted, "Zeitner Commando (don'r laugh)" on our very own Watch Forum, and he received quite a few responses.

It does seem that Zeitner is one of those brands that greatly overvalues its products, and then subsequently we find them heavily discounted online from other retailers. My own feeling, based on experience, is that the initial overpricing of the watches is the thing to watch out for most, because some of these watches are actually pretty good, and when discounted by third parties can be reasonably good value. I have acquired a few watches and chronographs branded with these so-called "rogue watch brands", and because I paid a proper price relating to the actual quality of the watches, I am pleased with them. I hope this isn't watch forum heresy, but I say it how it is for me.:)
